Hui a Tāpoi 2026 is a regional industry event designed to bring together tourism operators, hospitality businesses, retail teams, and industry stakeholders across the Taupō visitor economy.

Hui a Tāpoi aims to strengthen collaboration across the local tourism sector and create opportunities for businesses to connect, share knowledge, and promote their tourism products.

Welcome to Hui a Tāpoi 2026

Tātou, tātou – together, we are stronger.

Nau mai, haere mai, and welcome to Hui a Tāpoi.

Today is about bringing our tourism community together to connect, share ideas, learn from each other and celebrate our region.

Hui a Tāpoi brings together the Tourism Summit, a day of inspiration and conversation about the future of tourism; the Operator Marketplace, connecting operators and creating opportunities to discover new experiences; the Regional Food Showcase, celebrating our local food, produce and people; and Te Wiki o Ako, a week of learning, connection and discovery across our tourism industry.

Thank you for being part of Hui a Tāpoi and for the mahi you do every day to make our region a great place to visit.

We hope you enjoy the day, make new connections, share ideas and have a great time together.

Nau mai, haere mai – welcome to Hui a Tāpoi.

Patrick Dault, GM of Destination Great Lake Taupō

A one-day conference exploring the wider tourism landscape in Aotearoa New Zealand and highlighting the importance of regional collaboration within the visitor economy.

Regional Food Showcase

Taste the Great Lake Taupō region as local food and hospitality operators showcase some of their signature dishes and flavours. For morning tea and lunch, enjoy a selection of bite-sized creations and discover the people and businesses helping put our region on the culinary map.

Operator Marketplace

An industry marketplace where tourism operators can present their products and services to visitor-facing staff from accommodation providers, hospitality businesses, retail outlets, and other tourism organisations.

Launch of Te wiki o ako (Famil Week) 21-27 August 2026

The event will also introduce the Taupō Famil Week initiative, encouraging tourism and hospitality staff to experience local products through special industry offers.

This initiative aims to strengthen knowledge of Taupō tourism experiences and encourage stronger local advocacy for the region.
