The annual Taupō New Year’s Eve Big Bang Fireworks display returns on Wednesday 31 December.
In addition to the big show at midnight, we’re holding a Mini Bang fireworks event at 9.30 pm, perfect timing for the whole family. The Big Bang fireworks are safely launched by a pyrotechnics team from a barge on the lake, giving you plenty of safe community viewing points on the lakefront.
Roberts Street will be closed to keep you all safe, from 7am on Wednesday 31 December to 2am on Thursday 1 January 2026, giving you the opportunity to enjoy Tapuaeharuru Reserve without the worry of traffic. Businesses in the area will be open as usual.
Bring your whānau, tamariki and some good vibes. This event is vape and smoke free. Keep your dogs at home and remember the CBD is an alcohol-free zone.
