Destination Great Lake Taupō in partnership with Iwi/Hapu, the Taupō District Council, Amplify, DOC , tourism stakeholders and the community to develop a Destination Management Plan (DMP) for the Taupō region.
Te Ihirangi plans a future for tourism that reflects who we are as a destination and those things that are important to us. It ensures tourism enriches the lives of our people and place and delivers positive outcomes across a range of social, cultural, economic, and environmental well-being for the benefit of future generations.
Te Ihirangi was developed with significant input from the community, with over 1500 conversations held across the region. The plan outlines a shared commitment and statement of intent for the future development, protection, and regeneration of the destination.
The Taupō destination stretches from Mangakino and Whakamaru in the north, down to Tongariro in the south and includes Taupō, Tūrangi and all the land in between.
We're asking the community to have their say on the regional destination brand and logo: "Love Taupō".
