The Swing Voters Get A Little Bit Country: Andrew London's quirky original songs have appeared on 10 Hot Club Sandwich Albums and a similar number under his Andrew London Trio name. He has, however, an entirely different repertoire of country-rock, blues and western swing-style original songs that date from his time with Tui-nominated Kapiti band The Cattlestops, who recorded three albums and appeared at numerous music festivals throughout Australasia.
Andrew and his bass-playing partner Kirsten have assembled a crack unit featuring Kiwi rock royalty in the shape of Wayne Mason (keys - ex Fourmyula and Warratahs), John O'Connor (guitar - Redeye, Back Porch Blues Band, NZSO) and drummer Ryan Watson, recently returned to NZ after 15 years playing in Sydney. On the menu will be a few of Andrew's cynical and occasionally provocative originals, along with selected rhythm'n'blues, western swing and country-rock covers from Eddie Rabbit, Arlo Guthrie, B. B. King, Neil Young and Dr Feelgood.
Expect some pithy, satirical and hilarious observations on Kiwi life, wrapped in some old time country blues, western swing and rollicking rock'n'roll. Would they attempt Led Zeppelin? Why wouldn't they? Are the Beatles off-limits? Hell no. Would they finish with Wagon Wheel? Hell yes.
