Back in 2021, the playground underwent renovations not only to make it more enjoyable for children but also to improve safety and accessibility for a wider range of ages and abilities.
Updates for the new "Warrior Mountains Playground" include new climbing frames, 3 different slides of size & length, swing sets, an in-ground jumping trampoline, a climbing log feature, and a separate play area for toddlers, not to mention there is easy parking access and public toilets available.
But the added features aren't the only thing that makes the new playground truly special. The beautiful new colours and artwork were composed by local Tūwharetoa artist, Kingi, Pitiroi in collaboration with Hawira Karaitiana from the Taupō Museum to reflect Taupō's story of the mountains and waterways. At the entrance of the playground is a display dedicated to Taupō's rich history and story.
Right in the heart of Taupō town and close to the lake, the Tongariro Domain Playground is a worthwhile family destination for the whole afternoon!
