Husband and wife team, Warren and Nikki, born and bred on the east coast of South Africa, bring together their love of entertaining friends and family around the dinner table in a unique and different style to Taupo.
Specialising in authentic Brussels waffles which are light and fluffy make the perfect bases to be topped with an array of savoury or sweet toppings.
Alongside the waffles, we have all your café favourites. Bagels, toasties, salads and a cabinet full of sweet treats. Our kid’s menu and play area create the perfect family café. Our outside tables have hooks for dog leads where your fur baby can enjoy a puppaccino.
All in the name, it is very important to us to pay tribute to our roots, immigrating to New Zealand 6 years ago, Roots café is all about sharing the unique fusion of different external cultural influences that make up South African flavours, and putting down roots in this town surrounded by the beauty of the lake and mountains.
