Chengdu Kitchen is a small Chinese restaurant nestled in the heart of Taupō, within walking distance of the lakeshore. Drawn by the beauty of the town and the warmth of its people, Chris and Sabrina built a new life around this little shop after resettling in New Zealand in 2023.
The family brought signature dishes from their hometown of Chengdu, including Kung Pao Chicken and Ma Po Tofu. Well-known Sichuan favourites such as Chilli Beef, Double-Cooked Pork, and Sichuan Spicy Chicken also feature on the menu. Dumplings in Chilli Oil and Dan Dan Noodles are the owners’ go-to comfort dishes whenever they feel homesick.
Other Chinese dishes loved by Kiwis can also be found on the menu, including Sweet and Sour Pork, Honey Chicken, Braised Beef Brisket, and a wide variety of freshly cooked rice and noodle dishes. All meals are prepared fresh for both dine-in and takeaway guests.
