Known as one of the best adventure mountain bike rides in the North Island, the 42 Traverse is a 46km multi-use track that travels through the Tongariro Forest Conservation Area. There is an overall 520m of elevation loss, but there are also some challenging climbs to keep you on your toes and appreciate the little boost of e-bikes. It takes between 3 and 6 hours to ride. This ride will take you through wilderness terrain and is known for its variation. On multiple occasions, you will come to spectacular lookouts over the volcanic plateau, with direct view of the surrounding mountains.
