For 16 years, Taupō has been the home of Global Games’ flagship junior rugby festival. In 2026, we are proud to bring our dedicated girls’ rugby festival to Taupō for the very first time.
This is more than a rugby festival; it is a movement for our girls. A celebration of courage, confidence and connection, where young wāhine take the field, take up space, and show Aotearoa what the future of rugby looks like.
Built around the Global Games pillars of enjoyment, sustainability, sportsmanship and empowerment, the festival brings together teams, families and supporters for a weekend of rugby, community and shared pride. Players will experience the buzz of a large-scale junior sporting event, while being recognised not only for performance, but also for teamwork, respect, effort and the way they carry themselves on and off the field.
Taupō provides the perfect backdrop for this milestone event, offering visiting teams and whānau the chance to enjoy one of New Zealand’s most loved event destinations while supporting the growth of girls’ rugby.
