In the centre of it all, amongst all this greatness, there’s always Lake Taupō. What’s not to love about this great freshwater expanse that Māori referred to as Taupō Moana — the inland sea?
To put Taupō into proper perspective, you’ll want to get out on the water. You can choose from many different ways to experience the lake. From Taupō’s busy little marina, take a scenic cruise out on the lake, visit the famous Ngātotoirangi Māori rock carvings at Mine Bay or cast a line out fishing for trout.
