  • 188,000 UK travellers visited New Zealand in the year ending May 2025, with 43% arriving for holidays
  • Almost 50% of visitors between March – November, New Zealand’s off-peak seasons
  • The average length of stay for holiday visitors is 15 days
  • UK visitors spent $971.2 million in New Zealand, with $519.3 million by holidaymakers. The average spend per trip was $5,789, rising to $7,284 for holiday visitors
  • 55% of visitors travelled to four or more regions
  • There are 16 million people in the UK seriously considering a visit to New Zealand, 50% of these people have New Zealand as their number one destination
  • Visitors from the UK are drawn to New Zealand’s beautiful landscapes and are looking to learn and explore more things, and to feel relaxed and refreshed
  • Visitors are most interested in trying our local cuisine, visiting beaches and coasts, and visiting national parks, nature reserves or native forests

Germany:

  • 73,000 German travellers visited New Zealand in the year ending May 2025, with 74% arriving for holidays
  • The average length of stay for holiday visitors is 16 days
  • 50% of visitors from Germany arrive during March – November, New Zealand’s off-peak seasons
  • German visitors spent $512.3 million in New Zealand, with $385 million by holidaymakers. The average spend per trip was $8,102, rising to $8,648 for holiday visitors.
  • 62% of visitors from Germany visited four or more regions
  • Most visitors from Germany enjoyed activities like walks, hikes and tramps, followed by natural attractions including mountains, lakes, forests and beaches. Cultural geothermal experiences were also popular 
  • Visitors from Germany tend to stay longer and spend more per trip than visitors from other countries.
