Kai Waho

Kai Waho is an experience that is shared in the true essence of ‘manaakitanga’ with all visitors interacting with all activities.

The Māori phrase Kai Waho can be translated as outdoor cuisine. It can also describe a master, or teacher, of the ways of the wilderness.

We at Kai Waho have helped in a supporting role with our activities of pre-European cooking methods. Working with numbers of up to 20 an ideal number where every member has a set of tasks that need to be completed in order for the whole group to enjoy the end result, a Māori feast. Kai Waho is transportable and we can host off site.

The Tikanga

Ceremony and acknowledgement of our ancestors is paramount, and all groups will be immersed into the sharing of this, including and understanding of all the above Māori words and practices.
